Case Studies
AWS – ETF Market Maker
Vectis Networks was approached by a leading ETF Market Making firm based in London. After detailed analysis of their infrastructure a recommendation was made to migrate all their back end infrastructure to AWS to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
We successfully migrated their entire back office environment into AWS EC2 with zero downtime or disruption. This included Windows AD, DNS, DHCP, Azure AD Connect, SMTP, File Servers and many more bespoke applications. Mission critical MS SQL databases were also migrated successfully. S3 buckets were deployed for data backup and the delivery of historical market data from a 3rd party source.
In addition to the EC2 deployments VPNs and leased line circuits were procured and delivered to AWS via the DirectConnect services and into the exchange facing CoLos in conjunction with their hosting provider
Cost optimisation work was conducted from the outset including careful analysis of EC2 instance sizing requirement and further cost reduction using EC2 Reserved Instances
Trading Infrastructure – Tier One Investment Bank
Vectis Networks worked with one of the largest investment banks in the world to massively improve their in CoLo exchange facing network latency, by deploying Metamako (Arista) matrix switches.
Market data delivery latency was reduced to single digit nanoseconds, with order execution down to several 10s of nanoseconds.
We also worked to develop bespoke failover scripts that are required when using matrix switches to ensure they act like standard network switches
Network Solutions – Market Leading Supermarket
Vectis Networks worked with one of the largest supermarkets in the world to help redesign the network that powered their mission critical online presence
The legacy network had enormous organic growth, sprawl and networking challenges that lead to a very high risk migration regardless of tactics. To mitigate this risk and entire virtual copy of the network was built using the exact routing currently deployed. Software was written to automate a migration in this virtual environment to ensure there were no issues.
Because of this innovative work the entire environment was migrated over an eight hour period with zero downtime to the online presence
